VOiD808 is an Orange County, California based alternative/modern/indie rock band releasing their third full-length studio album, "Letters From Yesterday." The theme of the album is rooted in finding the intersection between the past and the present with the growth of the band, professionally and personally, as the foundation of change and maturation. "Days and Nights" speaks to this theme lyrically, bidding farewell to days and nights of the past with the line, "So long, we said... to the days and nights that we'll remember all our lives." The band's Christmas-themed song, "Bring Me Home," provides a message of hope and faith that one could be home for Christmas, cherishing their time with loved ones. "Falling" is a song about a man falling on his worst luck, with the hope that divine intervention could be his last hope, while "Weight of the World" is about doing more than telling someone you love them, by showing them instead. The band is very excited about the release of this album, as it has been in the works for some time, and all of their hard work has finally paid off.

After All Is Said and Done

“After All is Said and Done…” is what’s filling the void for the members of this Orange County based indie-rock quartet VOiD808 in early 2008 as they release their 3rd independent release entitled, “After All is Said and Done.” The band has been working on material for this album for the past 3 years, shortly following the release of their previous album, Soundtrack to Your Favorite Memory, in September 2004. “The last album was very emotional for me and was very diverse in pace, tempo, and theme. I thought it would be a tough album to follow, but I’m really proud of the artistry and expression that our current album captures. Musically, the album took the band places it had never been before and revitalized our sound,” states Oscar Oo, vocalist/songwriter.

VOiD808 revolve the album around the theme of a midnight drive taken to revitalize a relationship in “After All is Said and Done.” The songs on the record reflect the theme behind the album concept and stay with the metaphor of taking a journey through both difficult and peaceful times. The layout of the album beautifully illustrates this journey by providing the listener with images from the lyrics, told from beginning to end. VOiD808 create impressions of pain and anger on this album that are depicted in songs like Spirit of Downtown, Midnight Drive, and Whispers in the Dark, which brings to life the spoken words behind the prayer of someone who is hurting. Brandon Ochoa, drummer, shares, “I liked our chemistry when writing for this album. It helped us explore horizons we’ve never explored before musically.” VOiD808 also write about not taking life for granted with songs like Tomorrow’s Just a Promise, and also tailors the album to be reflective of bittersweet memories with songs like Anthem of Our Lives. Lastly, VOiD808 illustrate the metaphor of the reluctance to let go of painful memories with the melancholy acoustic tracks, Last Dance, and Image in Our Memories. Mike Turner, guitarist, states, “One could just put the cd in their car stereo and take a trip down memory lane; a youthful adventure.” Jay Adams, bassist, refers to the album as being, “Full of life experience.”

Since the release of their last album, VOiD808 have gone from local promotions to international marketing and promotions through the use of electronic music sales and advertising. They have exponentially increased their distribution, and with iTunes and CD Baby being their biggest international distributor, they currently have over 60 digital distribution sites and are at the height of their international exposure. VOiD808 are on a nonstop promotional campaign to further their music careers in utilizing some of the most popular networking tools on the internet today, including: myspace, friendster, purevolume, and other networking sites with well over hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, receiving an average of several hundreds of emails daily. During this period of high volume promotions, VOiD808 have also greatly increased the number of search results on any internet search engine. VOiD808 firmly believe that responding to their fans and building a relationship with their fans is the essence of creating music and hoping that someone else can find solace and comfort in this world by sharing the gift that was first given to them.

"Let the music speak for itself" is what the members of VOiD808 would say when asked to describe their sound. Based in Orange County, California this take-charge group has seen their share of success through letting their music be the voice of the band. From placing their releases in stores, performing at some of southern California's greatest venues, to having signed a deal with Coach House Records from 2001-2002, VOiD808 has always truly managed themselves with success. In the winter of 2002 the band went on hiatus to try out different avenues and after almost a year the returning members of VOiD808 set out on a mission to reawaken their spirits and to revive the band. In doing so they welcomed two close friends to take the journey with them and in the process rediscovered their image, their sound, and their purpose.

Shortly after reforming the band VOiD808 went right to work on their first full-length release. After 11 long months VOiD808 would release their self-produced debut full-length album in autumn of 2004. In trying to find a title that would best suit their newest release, VOiD808 immersed themselves in the inspiration and imagery that lay behind each of their songs. The collection of songs that the band had written for the album possesses a certain quality, characteristic of songs that one would remember in the recollections of their favorite memories. And as they experienced their thirst for artistry and expression all over again, the band realized that if one were to create a soundtrack of their life and memories it would be filled with songs that remind them of both the joys and the heartaches that accompany life. In a word, such a soundtrack would best be described as bittersweet.

VOiD808's newest release, Soundtrack to Your Favorite Memory, pursues every element of this idea and even appropriately contains images in the album artwork that evoke a feeling that is melancholy and nostalgic. Soundtrack to Your Favorite Memory takes the listener on a journey starting with the explosive opening track "Torn Pictures of Us," to the powerful title track "Soundtrack to Your Favorite Memory," and to the love song "Hold on to Forever," before concluding the album with the haunting "Captured in a Dream." VOiD808 has spent the last year working on this release and after listening to Soundtrack to Your Favorite Memory, it will become evident that all their hard work is finally going to pay off.

"LET THE MUSIC SPEAK FOR ITSELF," is the philosophy that VOiD808 adheres to. This take-charge group has done it all themselves, from placing their current release, "Time Is Now," in record stores to garnering attention from local press and local radio stations. Today VOiD808 has landed themselves a recording contract with Coach House Records, a subdivision of the nationally renowned dinner-theatre, The Coach House, in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Eager to deliver a product to their audience, VOiD808 took it upon themselves to raise enough money to go into a professional recording studio to record the EP, "For the People," due out late-summer '02 when their Coach House Records release was delayed. "For the People" truly encompasses the wide variety of emotions and thoughts that VOiD808 feels "bridges the gap" between artist and audience. Just as artists ranging from Blink 182, Live, The Goo Goo Dolls, to Creed, influence VOiD808, they share their emotions and thoughts on the record through a wide variation of approaches in songwriting. From the haunting Ave de Mer, which metaphorically portrays love through elements of water and dream, to the highly energetic Ready, which defines seizing the moment to do what you need to do, "For the People" is a reflection of the individuals in VOiD808; particularly for Ready, an afterimage of VOiD808's philosophy in determining one's own destiny, which brought "For the People" into production. Moreover, VOiD808 was not hesitant in including the slower, acoustic, more emotionally-wrenching ballads on this release, like the final track, Goodbye Forever. In a simple acoustic theme, Goodbye Forever illustrates the desire for one more night from a failing romance during heartbreak, and received such high appraisal from their audience that it absolutely needed to be included on this release even though it was a 4-track recording.
VOiD808's music has always adopted a positive message and aside from performing at well known dinner theatres throughout Southern California, such as the House of Blues, the Roxy Theatre and the Coach House, VOiD808 has also performed at many charitable events for children, philanthropies for fraternities and sororities, and for the youth at churches and high schools.
